What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which buy links get clicked. It collects the usual: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and how long you stayed.

We also fire an event when an affiliate link is clicked, recording the merchant, the product identifier where we have one, and the page it happened on. That is the only way we can tell which pages are useful, because a retailer reports commissions in aggregate rather than per page.

We do not collect your name, your email address or any payment information through analytics, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

The contact form

If you write to us, we receive the name, email address and message you submit. It reaches us by email and we keep it only as long as needed to deal with what you wrote about. We do not add you to any mailing list, because we do not have one.

The form uses a hidden field and a timing check to reject automated submissions. Neither collects anything about you — the hidden field is one a person never sees, and the timing check records only how long the page had been open.

Server logs

Our host keeps standard access logs, including IP addresses, for security and diagnostics. We also hold a short-lived in-memory count of contact form submissions per IP address to limit abuse; it is discarded within an hour and is never stored to disk.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. You can block them in your browser settings or with a content blocker, and the site works normally without them — nothing on Watt & Warden requires a cookie to function.

We set no advertising cookies of our own and run no advertising network.

Affiliate links

Clicking a buy button sends you to the retailer with a tracking identifier attached, so a purchase can be attributed to us. The retailer may then set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

We receive aggregate reports of commissions earned. We do not receive your name, your address, your payment details or a list of what you bought. The affiliate disclosure explains the arrangement in full.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent any data about you.
• We do not run an advertising network or set advertising cookies.
• We do not operate a mailing list or send marketing email.
• We do not require an account, and there is nothing to log into.
• We do not build profiles of individual visitors.

Third parties

Data reaches three third parties, and only these three:

• Google Analytics — usage analytics, governed by Google's privacy policy
• Vercel — hosting, which keeps standard server logs
• Retailers we link to — when you click a buy button, under their own policies

Contact form messages are delivered through Microsoft Graph to the mailbox above, and are not processed by any other service.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing. Since we hold almost nothing — analytics data is not tied to an identifiable person, and contact messages are the only personal data we store — this is usually a short conversation.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and note what changed. We will not quietly broaden what we collect.
